Action against Child Labour
Gusti Leather fights against child labour
We do not tolerate child labour at Gusti Leather. It is as simple as that. India is one of the many countries that are stuggling to stop children under the age of 15 from working and earning extra money for their families. We have put certain measures in place to prevent child labour during the production of our leather bags and accessories.
What are we doing about it?
We have informed our employees and producers around the world that they must sign a contract stating that under no circumstance will there be children working during any stage of production for Gusti Leather. If we discover any evidence of child labour, and therefore a breach of this contract, further business with that employee will be immediately terminated. This is not a topic we take lightly.
How do we check that they are keeping their promises?
Every time our CEO goes out to visit producers, he requests that any new employees sign the document. He also visits families spontaneously to make sure that everything is in check.
Education is important!
Generous customers have made it possible for us to donate over 1000 bundles of books, pens and pencils to pupils in schools in northern India. Our CEO along with two of our product managers handed them out personally at each school and it was astounding to see how happy and grateful the teachers and pupils were!
