What is box calf leather?

Box calf is the name of the leather that comes from calves. It’s mostly used to create men’s shoes, as well as bags and leather goods. Box calf is distinguished by its delicate, tight grain. It’s usually categorised based on the age and size of the animal. There are three categories: baby calf, box calf, and mast leather.

What does box calf feel like?

Box calf is soft yet tight and tear-resistant. The right side has a silky, shiny grain. Box calf is chrome-tanned leather that is dyed or primed. It’s usually 1 to 1.2 mm thick and its average surface area is 1 to 1.5 meters squared.
